$229Reviews of this kit on later models:
- I have fitted it today and can only say that has made an awesome difference to my [VB1] scooter.
- I did this on a 65 Allstate. I used existing wiring with no problem. It not only runs smoother, but I increased top speed about 5mph.
- Once everything was installed, I [http://2strokebuzz.com] hooked up the ignition wires and the tempermental beast that hadn't run for almost two years started on the (literally) first kick, once I remembered to turn on the flow to the two-year-old fuel. I almost cried. It was a beautiful thing. The next morning, I cleaned up the wiring and soldered on my new connectors and stuffed everything into the PX junction box [(I decided to use a PX junction box so I'd have more room to stuff wires)]. I started it up (first kick again!) and Jeebus! The headlight was glaring, it was as bright as an average car headlight. Beautiful. Even in daylight, it was brilliant. Get this: It was daytime, and I could see the speedometer was lit. These lights are awesome, and the best part is that I can buy replacements at Pep Boys. I took it on a short ride, and nothing blew up, so I'm looking forward to getting the plates up-to-date and getting it back on the insurance so I can take a real ride. But first impressions couldn't be much better.... Cheers to Randall and ScootRS for making an affordable kit that's fairly easy to install.
Only from ScootRS! This is a very complete 12 volt CDI kit specially made for any scooter with a VL/VB1 type flywheel. Most 1950's Allstates fall into this category.
The stator can also be cut and modified by you to fit a GS150 (and clear a bump in the case under the stator) as some some customers have done, but you're on your own there.
This is probably the best upgrade to add to your Vespa. By replacing the original 6v point system with our 12v CDI kit using magnetic pick up, you get brighter lights, easier starting, and a smoother running engine. The kit includes most everything needed and all new parts:
Again, the flywheel fan is NOT included. You must re-use your original fan. Check the holes are diagonally 76mm apart though you could always make new holes.
We recommend you order a spare CDI box in case yours ever fails, as they are not the same as the PX boxes your local shop usually has. See the related products.
See the tech note about wiring before ordering, as it is not simply plug-and-play! If you have no idea about scooter electrics, do NOT order this kit.
Tech Notes
We do NOT offer much wiring support for the various old models, sorry. You will have to work off of our diagram for a newer type and adjust. Upon purchase we will provide full instructions with photos for the later models (mounting is the same) showing what goes where, but you might prefer to rewire entirely and get rid of battery/rectifiers and such (the problem items anyway). Note the following:
