How do I pay for a scooter?

A bank transfer is cheapest because there are no handling fees. After you order, we will send you an email with payment instructions. If paying by credit card, following suggested procedures for internet retailers selling high-priced items, we will need you to fax in some information in order to verify your card and identity. If paying by credit card, to prevent fraud, we only ship to the billing address.

As for shipping and clearance, you pay the shipping agent(s) there for their service - shipping, Customs, clearance, and delivery - when the scooter arrives. We don't charge you anything extra for arranging it.

Total scooter charges?

Beyond the cost of the scooter, other charges which are not ours consist of:

  1. Freight charges are based on cubic volume. There are also some associated fees of the agent(s) for handling the goods. We have shipping estimates to many cities listed along with other shipping issues.
  2. Customs charges are any duties your country applies to the goods, usually a percentage of the declared value.
  3. Clearance charges are the fees you pay to a Customs broker to clear your goods through Customs for you.
  4. Delivery charges are for having the scooter brought right to your house, rather than your picking it up at the warehouse.
  5. VAT/GST also applies if your country has such a tax (not USA) and is based on the declared value - unless you import through a business.

Be sure to look at our import tips page for how to reduce charges, as well as our Customs page for how to easily clear the scooter yourself.

UK estimate

Freight is around £100+, while various clearance charges should total another £100, more if you pay someone to do it for you. VAT is 5% of the declared invoice value plus freight, and there is no Customs duty. Declare it as an historic vehicle, otherwise the rates are higher. Delivery is optional and maybe £35 or so. For example, one customer in Birmingham paid £256, plus £110 for clearance and delivery which he chose not to do himself.

USA estimate

Freight charges are generally about $225, Customs is usually $9, clearance charges depend on the local agent there, and delivery is optional and around $100. For example, one customer reported back a typical charge of shipping and clearance charges that came to $296, plus $49 for Customs and $35 to load the crate into his truck; total $380. Figure on $400 something.

How do I pay for parts?

When you check out you can choose your method of payment and the country amongst those listed from which you want to receive your goods. If paying by credit card, to prevent fraud, we only ship to the billing address. You will need to phone your card issuer and change your billing address first if you want it shipped elsewhere (you can change back afterwards).

What about refunds if I have to cancel?

Refunds on a paid order before the item is sent are subject to a 10% handling fee. Scooters are the same, but completely at our discretion, and may be more if we feel we cannot easily sell the scooter.

We do not accept returns on parts. All sales are final. If a part is faulty, we will offer a replacement in exchange for the original. Contact us.

Parts sent by Post Office are not guaranteed for shipping. We can produce a receipt showing the flight it left on; after that we don't know. Very occasionally a package sent by Post Office is lost, others simply delayed, which actually happens in your country at your post office. If so, we will only refund the parts cost (not shipping) if the item comes back undeliverable, which can take a month to arrive. If in doubt, choose, courier shipping.
