Vietnam war photographer Tim Page
Dec. 2, 2007, 12:23 PM

Vietnam war photographer Tim Page Not scooter related, but we met Tim Page the Vietnam war photographer the other night here in Saigon. He was going to do a little show the next night and a couple of us ended up sitting having drinks until very late, listening to his stories about each photo, about his friend Sean Flynn who was also a photographer and was captured in Cambodia and simply disappeared, about Saigon during the war, and so on.

We actually bought 2 limited edition photos and a large poster, and he signed them all. The last photo is one of them.

All hopped up on speed
Nov. 20, 2007, 10:17 PM

No, we're not speaking of scooters. Or people. Just the website.

Hopefully you will notice a very healthy speed increase in loading our website. We just hooked up the turbo charger and the pages are now about 50% faster.

The moral of the story? You don't want us as your server admin because it should have been done before. Ooops. Now just have to become a database admin expert and tune that... or stick to scooters.

Insane in the Lambrain
Nov. 15, 2007, 8:07 AM

High speed runs along twisty roads on a Lambretta - using no hands?

Sounds like the definition of insane. If you can bear to peek through your fingers and watch it, here you go.

Get there faster
Nov. 8, 2007, 8:52 PM

We've added a few quick searches to the parts start page so you can now search for parts specifically for a certain model. One click will get you to Lambretta GP parts or Vespa PX parts and so forth. (Note: a few parts might not show up on these searches because of the way the search is done, and other parts fit many models so they will not show up on specific searches like this.)

We've also divided the quick searches into Lambretta and Vespa types so you can easily find Lambretta rubber or Vespa seats, for example.

A scootRS scooter featured on Irish TV
Oct. 29, 2007, 12:39 PM

Award-winning Lambretta A scooter that is often the centre of attention goes from an Italian scooter to a Saigon scooter to a London scooter to... an Irish scooter?

Was asked to go to Carnaby St. last night (famous mod fashion street in London). A film crew were there from Irish national television making a program about mod fashion and scooters. I was interviewed on my scoot and the scoot will feature in the program, should be broadcast here on one of the Sky channels. The program makers are going to send us DVD copies so I will make a copy and send it to you. By the way, they loved the scoot, the cameraman offered me serious money for it.

We really did love this scooter. Great looks and fun to drive.

Going from nothing to an actual scooter part
Oct. 16, 2007, 9:35 AM

Machining a Lambretta front axle Here are a couple photos in the factory as we machine a Lambretta front axle, many of which we use on our disc brake kit.

First of all we start with raw steel rods, an expensive machine, and someone who knows what he's doing. Cut the rods to length to begin. Then, if we press and turn things in just the right combination and say the magic words, the machine does most of it for us while we watch! Repeat various processes repeatedly and thus convert a pile of “before” items into a pile of “after” items. Once that is done we get to start all over on the pile and make the threads so the item is actually finished and usable and can head over to the stock room.

Then you order it, we box and ship it, and eventually your wheel turns on it as you head off to wherever it is you are going in London, Vancouver, Melbourne, Berlin, Austin, Tokyo, Manila, Paris...

Easy peasy.

Less than a week from VN to the UK
Oct. 12, 2007, 2:26 PM

A nice email today:

Hi, just got my latest order for various bits for my LI Special. Once again excellent service and lightning delivery, less than a week from VN to the UK, how quick is that?? Quality as usual is superb, keep it up guys.

Great, thanks.

If you've seen the recent Roadkill photos of our warehouse you can see we try to keep most parts in stock, both Lambretta and Vespa, though some items do take extra time.

Scooter calendar video and wallpaper
Oct. 4, 2007, 8:24 PM

Here is a little clip of our scootRS calendar shoot we did. In this one two models are walking towards a Vespa. We've added it to our downloads page.

We've also added a few new desktop wallpaper photos from the calendar shoot which, no doubt, most scooterists will enjoy. One of them was taken during the video clip above; another is with a Lambretta. We'll try to post new ones over time.

Another nice addition there is various scootRS search engines for your browser so that when you see some overpriced part somewhere, or think of something new you need, you can instantly search scootRS from your browser to see how much you can save on it. You can choose Vespa or Lambretta only, and even foreign currencies!

Finally, we cleaned up a few dead video links. It's a downloads page with a new lease on life.

Dude, that's not what I ordered!
Sep. 26, 2007, 3:26 PM

No doubt sometimes mistakes are made when you process so many scooter parts orders, but we do try to correct things quickly when notified:

Got my order with two left side crash bars two weeks ago, and got the correct right side bar this week. Thanks for correcting the problem so quickly, there are several scooter shops here in the U.S.A. that would've taken three times as long just to get the first order sent! And they look better than the Italian bars. GOOD JOB PEOPLE!!! Thanks again.

Glad to hear you like them and it all worked out well.
