We've got no idea what it says, but the Japanese scooter magazine Scooter Style reviewed a 5-port, 10 inch wheeled VB1 we did. We've added it to our Reviews page, under Magazines.

Montreal bagels and Schwartz's smoked meat
Aug. 16, 2003, 8:52 PM

Oh, heart, be still!

A customer is teasing us with the thought of sending over some bagels and smoked meat from Montreal. Could it really be true?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
There are tourists who hear of Schwartz's when they plan their trip to Montreal. There are Montrealers who moved out of town and dream of coming to this place as soon as they get off the plane. And then there are the rest of us and we're just smiling, or licking the tastiest grease in the world off our lips. When you come into this town remember two things: Montreal bagels and Schwartz's smoked meat. That's all. They are never as good anywhere else.
(More for the ignorant masses here.)
Mods and Rockers
Jul. 25, 2003, 5:53 AM
May 18, 1964: Mods and Rockers jailed after seaside riots
From the BBC website with video and audio reports from the day, as well as a summary to put it all in context:
From the early to mid-Sixties young, mainly working class, Britons with cash to spend joined one of two youth movements.
The Mods wore designer suits protected by Parka jackets and were often armed with coshes and flick-knives. They rode Vespa or Lambretta scooters bedecked with mirrors and mascots and listened to Ska music and The Who.
Rockers rode motorbikes - often at 100mph with no crash helmets - wore leathers and listened to the likes of Elvis and Gene Vincent.
Inevitably the two gangs clashed. The 1964 Whitsun weekend violence in Brighton was famously dramatised in the film Quadrophenia (1979).
In August that year police had to be flown into the Sussex resort of Hastings to break up fights between the two gangs.
But two years later, most Mods had turned their attentions to the burgeoning, more laid-back, hippie culture.
Scoot Quarterly vs. Heidegger
May. 30, 2003, 5:35 PM
Rain. And when it does, it proverbially pours. New Scoot Quarterly arrived today in the mail, along with three Heidegger books, one of which, Basic Problems of Phenomenology, has a sticky note attached, saying “If you digest this book, your movements will be light. Consider it a cleanse.”
Hmm, maybe we should eat first.
Vespa GS160
May. 22, 2003, 11:15 PM
Nice update on the very special GS160 we did:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The scoot is going just fine - all run-in now and getting a familiar feel to it that is very endearing. The GS is used nearly every day to take me along a beautiful stretch of road from my village house in the New Territories next to the sea and beaches, through open countryside to a subway station on the edge of the urban area. Total travel time round 20 mins - maybe all too brief but in HK this is real good riding.
