Three more scooters to drive; three more emails arrive:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
My girlfriend received the scooter last week. It looks fantastic and runs great too. Thank you for doing a wonderful job on the restoration and rebuild.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I peek into the garage and gaze lovingly at it every nite- Italians do have a knack for designing some beautiful machinery! I also own a ducati 748 superbike and it's hard to say which stokes me more- They both are awesome in their own ways.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The '65 VBB arrived today and it's absolutely beautiful. It looks like it just rolled off the showroom floor. I put oil in the gearbox and fueled it up and it started without a problem. Thanks for all the great work. You have another satisfied customer.
Vietnam notebook
Life is always interesting on the other side.
The street warden has been badgering us to put up the flag, as required, in order to demonstrate our "solidarity" during the Party Congress and imminent Liberation holiday. Apparently spontaneous solidarity flew all up and down the street except for one indifferent blot - until today. Somehow we ended up with the hammer and sickle, so we must be very solid.
The office debate-of-the-day was entitled "Whose castle anyway? Bourgeois and revolutionary conceptions of the private."
Scooter Chinglish
Apr. 12, 2001, 12:53 PM
The yellow fellow has been finished.
°°
We rather enjoyed a piece on scooter slogan Chinglish in Taiwan. Sample: "DUKE - Dreaming Knight of brave, characteristic, aggressive, active. The modern scooter citizen for new generation." Informative. OK, one a little more artsy: "PARTY 100 - Flying Angel of Elegant, Nimble and Beautiful." Read the rest here, brave knights.
San Diego scooter review
Apr. 5, 2001, 5:34 PM
Nice email today after a scooter was received: "The fit and finish exceeded expectations. Upon seeing it, people are surprised to learn it isn't new. The paint and chrome are very good. The engine sounds and runs well. Overall I am pleased with the scooter....Tell the guys in the shop that their work is impressing a lot of folks here in the San Diego, California area." Will do. And thanks for the suggestions added.
Browsers
Mar. 14, 2001, 10:41 PM
First draft of a new dom-compliant design is done. It will look good in any 5+ browser (ie, ns, opera), and load much faster. If you don't have a 5+ browser, take a look at why you should get one.
°°
If you're a Netscape fan, forget about ns6.01 and get the more advanced browser upon which it is based - and without out all the aol junk. See mozilla.org, or download the latest milestone release for Windows here.
°°
Got an email yesterday asking why our original-style seat covers are $40 less than elsewhere. Hmmm. Economics? Vespa or Lambretta.
Vietnam notebook
Mar. 3, 2001, 6:40 PM
Let's see: driving along and two little _____ heavily slam into the side of you, almost wiping you out, causing you to twist your ankle keeping the bike up - then take off. A common occurrence here, unfortunately. Naturally you chase them through several districts at high speed, zigzagging through cyclos, potholes, ladies pushing food carts, kids serving bowls of soup, and a fair share of the 6,000,000 scooters in the country moving in all directions at once. Lights? What lights? Hunching your shoulders as you pass in 4th on the wrong side of the road between opposing semis, you pop out only to see... Well, the good thing about owning your own shop is that your scooter is back on the road in an hour. God bless stainless steel trim! -The scrapes on your body take just a little longer.
Visitors
Feb. 20, 2001, 9:07 AM
Record numbers of visitors of late. Well, for an export-oriented company like us 3 in a day is a record: from the US Embassy, the Quiet American film in town, an animation company... We're now taking applications for a concierge.
