Various Vespa
Nov. 15, 2004, 9:28 PM

A busy Vespa scooter day:

1) A lovely reed-valve 5-port VLB Hurricane Special up for auction. Bid away.

2) We've added a reed-valve as a motor option for our Vespa scooter restos. A reed-valve is basically a carbon flap that provides more efficient use of the fuel and allows as much fuel into the motor as possible, not just once per revolution as normally. If that's Greek to you, just concern yourself with the result: better throttle response and power.

3) We've added GS160 for sale in the scooter section. We only have a couple, and we have 200cc motors to go with them! By sheer coincidence, we got this email today from the owner of the one featured on the GS160 page:
I bought the red GS160 [with 200cc motor] from you a couple of years ago. Not surprisingly it's still going great, in fact ever better as it matures. I love it actually. It surely must be the most under-rated affordable icon available. I kept it all as delivered and so far have only needed to change oils and a clutch cable. She starts first or if really misbehaving, second kick and sounds sweet as a nut as it purrs along the relatively open roads around me in New Territories Hong Kong.

Vespa floor mat rubber kit
Oct. 10, 2004, 12:11 PM

Vespa floormat kit Vespa floormat kitMore new Vespa parts added. We've added a Vespa floor mat rubber kit (includes the stainless retainers, or get those on their own). As usual, it goes for a much better price than elsewhere, only $11.

We've also added a Vespa stainless steel trim package, legshield beading all-around, which is the legshield beading plus an identical bottom piece to run along the side. Very nice, for $85.

Vespa Soho
Oct. 5, 2004, 10:06 AM

Nice email from a scooter customer in NYC:
I received the scooter last night, and it looks great. The majority of my day has been spent driving around New York City getting compliments from people on the street. It looks great, runs great, and is fun to drive. Attached is a pic of me and my girlfriend in front of Vespa Soho. Well, I have to get to bed... I have a lot of scooting to do tomorrow morning. Thanks again.
Our pleasure. Enjoy!

Best stainless steel Lambretta exhaust
Jul. 29, 2004, 11:06 AM

A potpourri for you. From a post, the formula for working out the cubic capacity of your engine (example, Lambretta 150cc):

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
pie x r2 x h
pie = 3.142
r = radius of bore (57.60mm x 1/2) = 28.80mm
h = stroke (58mm or 5.80)
Therefore: 3.142 x 2.88 x 2.88 x 5.8 = 151.15382cc
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

°°

Anorak debate 937 (in a series): the Lambretta DL/GP ink spot. Not enough? Some more then.

°°

Someone rated our Lambretta tuned exhaust: “10.0 (out of ten), Best stainless steel exhaust I've had yet.”

Vespa dropbars
Jul. 9, 2004, 4:38 PM

Couple nice emails today:

One about Vespa dropbars:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Thanks again as the drops are the most superb I've seen from anywhere in the world- even [well-known shop] and some places in Europe!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

And another about Lambretta LDs:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Thank you for the wonderful website. What memories it bought back, for I owned a Lambretta LD150 (probably) when I was in the service near Marquette, MI. It was either a ’57 or ’58 model and I had it in ’64 and ’65.
I cannot even guess how many miles it had, or how many were put on by me. There was a trip to Chicago... 820 miles round trip at 45 mph. And many to the nearby towns of Marquette, Ishpeming and Negaunee, all about 25 miles away.
Thank you again.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
