Greasy, non-greasy
Nov. 20, 2000, 12:57 PM

“Vespa is not just a product, but a lifestyle,” Stefano Rosselli, president and chief executive officer of Piaggio, was quoted as saying. “The type of person we want to sell a Vespa to very unlikely would be inclined to go to a garage-type operation where you buy motorcycles, where the more greasy you are, the better you feel.” -Greasy, non-greasy: here we don't discriminate.

New Vespa and Lambretta scooter parts
Nov. 19, 2000, 11:00 PM

Lots of new Vespa and Lambretta scooter parts and new parts on sale, so be sure to take a look at both pages.

Netscape 6 was officially released and our site, like others that prepared for it, looks much better in it than in nn4. There are a few bug reports, and many unprepared sites, so better to wait for 6.1. Better still, if you don't want all the AOL nonsense but you like Netscape, download the nightly build of Mozilla, which is the cleaner, more advanced version of nn6.

Hong Kong visitor
Nov. 11, 2000, 12:59 PM

Our visitors from Hong Kong just left, having learned a bit more about manufacturing scooter parts here. As we put together an order of parts for them, they meanwhile bought a few items in a local market, thinking it a deal as anyone would. But as we showed them afterward, the kickstart they bought is welded and uses low quality metal and will break, the kickstart shaft doesn't work properly, the fork springs are too soft, the petrol taps have two problems, etc... Some people here sell sell these local-quality parts overseas, so make sure you know where your parts came from if you're not ordering parts we manufacture ourselves directly from us.

A busy month for visitors here. If you're planning a trip this way, be sure to contact us beforehand.

Lambrettas in Europe
Nov. 10, 2000, 10:52 PM

An interesting first-hand post about scooters in Europe, which includes this about Lambrettas: "Saw only one or two Lambrettas, in Barcelona, daily, worn runners. Lammys are rare, period. None in Rome, and believe me, I was looking at scooters on this trip."

Scooter review
Nov. 1, 2000, 7:28 PM

A nice post yesterday about the VB1 pictured on our site:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I took delivery of my scooter (shown prominently on his site) only about a half year ago. I haven't been able to show it to other riders, so couldn't get much feedback on it (lots of oohs and aahs didn't mean much to me). Finally I did; I took it to a local (Japan) restorer/mechanic who specializes in Vespas as a side-business (main business is restoring older Maseratis, Alfas, Ferraris, etc.). He insisted that I leave it with him overnight so he could see 'what the hell they did to it.' What he meant was, what I paid and what I got didn't match up; His conclusion: Excellence. Professional craftsmanship, detailing and engineering, for Vietnam, USA, Japan, Italy, wherever. Very Good Work (he literally took it apart to inspect it).
Still lovin' my scooter to death.
-d.
