Lambretta hydraulic front disc kit
Feb. 28, 2002, 1:46 PM

Well, yes, it is a bit extreme perhaps, you're quite correct. Too late now. We've just released the scootRS Lambretta hydraulic front disc kit. If you want superior braking - read: "modern braking" - check it out. We've also finally put our dropbars up for sale which you have likely been drooling over on the LI150 page for months now. We added PX dropbars as well, just for fun. Finally a Lambretta dual gas tank kit, as used on the same LI150, and Ancillotti-style seats.

°°

After being away for the holidays, then moving shop, it's good to finally get all that out there for your perusal. Hence: please peruse the New Parts page.

VLB review
Feb. 25, 2002, 3:53 PM

Warning! An email yesterday explains what we do and the problems you may encounter when ordering from us:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I received my scooter yesterday, a VLB. Even my wife was won over. She had enjoyed referring to my scooter as a ridiculous toy, but was quick to ask for a ride once she saw it. She was heard telling a friend that OUR scooter had finally arrived.
It started on the second kick, and the attention to detail is obvious. Absolutely flawless.
Many thanks. I look forward to ordering a Lambretta in the future -- maybe my wife will let that one be all mine.
Scooter parts sale
Feb. 22, 2002, 4:07 PM
Uhh, there's a distinct possibility that we will shortly realize the hideous errors we've made and will reverse all of this, but until then we strongly suggest you check out the On Sale page.
°°
There's also a distinct possibility that we are geniuses, so we strongly suggest you check out the New Parts page: GS150 sports exhaust, Series II speedo face, fender swan accessory, VBB tailight, etc., etc…
Refresh
Feb. 21, 2002, 9:35 PM
It just made us so sick we finally went in and corrected the header and footer display on secondary pages. Why don't we spend more time on the new site and get the darn thing finished, right? Yes, yes, it's getting there. You redesign 5 times, then decide to do it all in xhtml and css layout and tell us how long that takes. -Oh, and added a pick-up option for parts shipping.
OK, the New Year's break was good, hanging out by the pool was better, and Valentine's dinner the best. We're now back to work. Fire away.
New shipping option
Feb. 14, 2002, 5:29 PM
We've added a new shipping option for scooters: cut your order time in half by having your scooter shipped to you by air. Instead of one month at sea, you receive it in a day or two. Prices to the USA are $600-650. Elsewhere enquire.
Scooters in films
Feb. 13, 2002, 1:07 PM
A large listing of films in which scooters have appeared can be found here. Almost 50 years of films and scooters, from Roman Holiday in 1953 up to Harry Potter in 2001, with many inbetween.
°°
In the pursuit of knowledge, it is always helpful to come back much later and look at things anew. A page error was coming up for certain Canadian postal codes when calculating shipping, so we went through the code and, lo and behold, reduced 40 lines of code down to 5 blindingly obvious lines. Where were they hiding before?
VL1/VB1 porting option
Feb. 12, 2002, 12:30 PM
Some nice feedback today about the VL1/VB1 porting option we added a while ago, which we think is a must have on those models. The first customer to receive it wrote back:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

You guys built a really great bike for me a few months ago. It was a silvery green and black VB1. It has run very well and goes much faster than I had ever dreamed. Very sharp. One of the nicest bikes in town. Thanks.

Scooter reviews
Feb. 6, 2002, 12:32 PM

We'll have some major product announcements in a day or so, but until then, enjoy a few photos of just some of the recent restorations we've done. (-When are you going to realize your dream? And avoid a nightmare!)

°°
Enjoy as well some self-serving blather, otherwise known as a couple of recent emails:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I received the scooter yesterday. First off, nice job crating it. It took me 30 minutes to remove the scooter. It looks amazing. It totally exceeded my expectations. The pictures do not do justice to the detail. Top quality all around. After oil and gas it started on the third kick and I was off.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I've been researching around for quite some time now and am so excited to be
in the final stages of purchasing my first scooter. I'm also excited that
there is such a trustworthy shop that every scooter-head I've talked to and
all the posts I've read recommend and have nothing bad to say about.
This of
course would be scootrs.com. Initially I wanted to keep my first purchase in
the $2500 range, but every bike I've seen at local shops (San Francisco) in
that range aren't the quality I desire. I figure if I spend a grand more I
can get a fully restored bike with any color of my choice and any sort of
performance options.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It took a long time and a lot of hard work to get to where we are now, so we appreciate the kind words.
Cosmopolitan
Feb. 1, 2002, 9:56 PM
Let's see: 1 hour in Korea doing nothing, 6 hours overnight in Singapore with free internet, 8 in Bangkok and a lovely red curry with pork for lunch, and now we are back home in the land of cool fruit shakes and warm toes. That wasn't so bad, was it? A quick pic of the new shop cleaned up. More news and new parts to come after the fruit shake is digested.
