We messed up
Mar. 25, 2010, 8:06 AM

We messed up and sent out a scooter part that wasn't right - and then got a nice email from Majorca, Spain today:

Lambretta upper damper brackets Have already received the upper [Lambretta damper] brackets and they are the right size.

Not many companies would have spent their time in a customer's complaint about such a small part. That's what makes a good company become an excellent company. Be sure I'll tell everybody how reliable you are guys!

I'm recommending you to all my friends, and I've even ordered some parts for two of them that weren't used to the online shopping.

Thanks and keep on.

Thanks for your nice comments and glad to correct it quickly for you. We'll keep on keeping on...

Lambretta floor channel rubber - and more
Mar. 23, 2010, 6:27 PM

Lambretta floor channel rubber If you haven't noticed, our Lambretta floor channel rubber came out the other week. Already a few replies about it's being the same as Italian quality but for just $5.75 a set.

We've now done almost all of the Lambretta Series 3 rubber (and even the plastic floor strips for S3 and GP which are now the highest quality in the world - compare yourself), a few S2 rubber bits, even some LD horncast rubber.

We have a couple S3 rubber items to finish after which we can offer a complete S3 rubber set and save people about 50% over elsewhere but with excellent quality. Being done inhouse, for example, the grays all match unlike rubber being sourced from different places in Italy and resold together.

If you're wondering about the difference in quality between what we do inhouse at ScootRS and what is available in the local Vietnam market (and often resold on eBay), we have comparison photos on some rubber item pages such as this:

Compare brake pedal rubber

And here's a comment someone posted before:

I can heartily recommend the ScootRS rubbers for the side panels. They are the best you will get in my opinion. In fact all their rubber is exceptionally good quality. Anyway, the sidepanel rubbers are nice and thick. Not too stiff and not too soft and my sidepanels sit on them a treat with no riding up of the rubber. “Same as Italian. Half the price.” as they say.

Available stock totals coming soon?
Mar. 19, 2010, 3:15 PM

One row of our parts warehouse

We've had some time to work on a system for syncing the actual available stock total to the website and it should be ready soon. We've got it to the point where it is taking a big accounting file, parsing it, and spitting out part numbers and totals. So that's done. The other half about updating totals onsite was done before and was quite a nightmare considering all the options and how everything must go together. Now we just have to make them work together.

Currently our site tells you if anyone else had to wait for a particular item recently, based on there being a slow item in a current order, but customers often expect having out-of-stock items explicitly noted. However, seeing we actually manufacture items unlike places that just buy and resell what's on their shelves, it can be a bit misleading to say something is “out-of-stock” from us when really it only needs to be chromed or is an option that can be ready fairly quickly after ordered.

We'll have to think about how to give out the most helpful info to customers on this. If you have any thoughts, let us know.

(The photo, if wondering, is just one row in our warehouse.)

Starring parts
Mar. 6, 2010, 9:51 AM

As you might have noticed, there is a “Starred star” parts menu item now.

Basically we redid our bookmarks feature to make it more in keeping with systems people are familiar with from Gmail and Firefox and such. If you want to save certain parts for later just click the empty star star and you can then see them all together on the Starred parts page each visit.

Mar. 2, 2010, 5:28 PM

Vespa GTS mirrorsVespa LX mirrors

Looking to replace the mirrors on your Vespa GTS or LX or other modern scooter?

Here are some very sleek scooter mirrors for $8.95, or the same but slightly bigger scooter mirrors.

Black metal. Very nice quality! Solid and stiff. And they are reversible to fit both sides.

Perfect!

Of course they also fit classic scooters and are great for bolting to our disc brake kit master cylinders, Vespa or Lambretta. Here's the bigger version:
