VBB 5-port
Aug. 30, 2002, 5:35 PM

Looking for a VBB 5-port in a lovely retro off-white and blue in the US?

Saw that someone has posted one of ours on eBay for a great price. As he says, forced sale and his loss. More photos of it here.

A great scooter.

Hydraulic disc brake
Aug. 30, 2002, 5:34 PM

We've updated our popular hydraulic disc brake. One issue with scooters with no front shocks/dampners is the need to change the fork links, which is quite an awful job. We've eliminated that need by going with our front shock linkage kit, rather than modified links. Same-same but easier. We've also added another lever support option, so we have two Indian GP style now.

VLB customer
Aug. 30, 2002, 2:12 PM

What's the secret to building a client base? Emails like this one about a recent VLB:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It's so much fun. You provide an excellent scooter at a great price. My friends and coworkers can't believe it is 33 years old. It looks and runs like its brand new. I have recommended you to all of them.
I had to have it appraised for insurance purposes. It was assessed a “Fair Market Value” of $6,000. My only regret at this point is not buying 3. Living in California, I could easily sell the other 2 for $4500 each and covered the price of the third.
Thanks for everything.
Impressed with the quality
Aug. 23, 2002, 11:13 AM
A gaggle of New Parts reports were causing a mess on the desk. Finally time to free some of them.
°°
An email from the motherland:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I took it for the year 'MOT' road test a couple of weeks ago and it passed with flying colours. A guy there has been importing Lambrettas from Italy for resale here in the UK and he was really impressed with the quality of the restoration, after spending several minutes on his back looking underneath, etc!

30mm carb kits for Lambretta
Aug. 13, 2002, 9:24 AM

No one who is not putting his Lambretta in a museum should be using a stock Dell'Orto/Arbeo/Jetex carb with its tired old technology. What to use then? Well, the first of the new carb kits are up.

For serious power, get our top-of-the-line 28 or 30mm pattern PWK flatslide carb - complete with manifold for less than the carb alone elsewhere. Awesome. Great for scooters with a tuned or big bore exhaust, or tuned cylinder. (Add with our tuned exhaust for great bolt on power.)

For fairly stock scooters we have a 24mm pattern Mikuni roundslide kit for a ridiculously good price. More power than stock carbs, better throttle response, and highly tuneable modern technology.

Seriously, forget Dell'Orto/Arbeo/Jetex, old or new. Japanese carb technology is the best in the world.

Vespa PX replacement
Aug. 8, 2002, 5:08 PM

The word, courtesy a scooter-forums post, is:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Piaggio are going to re-launch the PX with a 4 stroke engine and step-tronic automatic gearbox (like the 650 burgervan engine). It is likely to come in 200-250cc engine size-range and the ET2/ET4 will become the “Vespa small-frame” scooter, while the new PX will be a direct replacement for the old PX. Sticky [of Scootering Mag.] has seen the scooter in Italy. Styling is a cross between PX, ET4 and Cosa.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Why not a cross between a GS160 and a GS160?

VB1/VL1
Aug. 8, 2002, 5:01 PM

We've added some new VL1 pictures. -A 5-port!

°°

We've also made a note that with our Vespas other than VB1/VL1, if you have chosen a 12v electronic ignition motor, we will use a PX-type brake pedal. It is already wired for a 12v system, neater than the old type, and gives better braking. Of course, if you don't want that, simply let us know when ordering and we can rewire an old-style one.

Visitors from SF, coming overland from Phnom Penh, enjoyed the mess in the shop the other day and were kind enough to give the light olive 5-port VL1 a test drive.
